Sensex Today Live: Smallcase views on Nifty's journey to reach 20,000:

Gaurav Verma, smallcase manager, Director 21G Investment Advisers Pvt Ltd

“Our market view is very positive, specially as Nifty is nearing to much awaited 20,000. Good thing is that we have seen a very bullish up move from 19000 towards 20000. Why? Because this up move is very steady and not very not fast; it tells us it’s going to stay for long, and every sector is rotating, going up, consolidating, and another sector is going up; it’s going to carry on."

Sonam Srivastava, smallcase manager & Founder of Wright Research

“The durability of this rally is contingent upon global and domestic economic recovery, corporate performance consistency, and monetary policy steadiness. Historically, Nifty's landmarks - 1K, 5K, 10K, and 15K, were achieved due to economic liberalization, global liquidity, structural reforms, and digitization due to the pandemic. The current scenario mirrors these favorable conditions with buoyant markets, positive macroeconomic and global outlooks, coupled with potential for volatility and short-term price corrections."

Sensex Today Live: Geojit Financial Services views on today's market: individual stock action in response to results and news will happen

Dr V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Globally market participants will be closely watching Fed chief Jerome Powell’s comments about the disinflation process in the US and the likely trend in interest rates. A 25 bp rate hike, already discounted by the market, will not trigger any market move. But if the Fed chief indicates that inflation is coming under control and, therefore, no further rate hikes are needed, that will be a big trigger for markets to move up. But such an outcome is highly unlikely since the Fed will play it safe even if inflation is coming under control.

While the range-bound movement of the Indian market is likely to continue today, individual stock action in response to results and news will happen. Q1 results of Tata Motors and their decision to cancel DVR shares and the good results of L&T and the share buyback news are sentient positive.
